Odisha signs MoU, two agreements to make youth skilled for global competitions

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to make youth skilled and create employment opportunities for them, Odisha government today signed an MoU and two agreements with TATA Strive and Tech Mahindra.

While an agreement was signed between Directorate of Technical Education & Training (DTE&T) and TATA Strive to impart Life Skills to students of Government ITIs, IDCO made an agreement with Tech Mahindra to set up a state-of-the-art facility to start its operations for International BPO at Fortune Tower for global customers.

As per the first agreement, Life Skill will be imparted to the students of all 49 state-run ITIs in Odisha.

Similarly, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked among Tech Mahindra and Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) and College of Engineering & Technology (CET) to set up a Centre of Excellence in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), where students will get an opportunity to work on proof of concept on real life business problems to keep up with the market demand and to enhance the employability of engineering students.

All the three were signed in presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Kharavela Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.

Speaking on the occasion, Patnaik said that these partnerships are in perfect sync with skilled-in-Odisha initiative. This will give a major boost to our skill development and employment generation efforts.

“Our vision is to make Odisha nucleus of global skilled manpower requirement by enhancing our skill to such a level that all the top industrial houses across the globe rope in our workforce in large numbers,” he said.

“Recently, with our boys shining at World Skill Competition in Russia, signs of our excellence have been exhibited at the global level. We are scaling up our activities to make youth of Odisha skilled for the globe,” he added.
