Odisha: Six held in connection with stabbing of bar employee to death

Khordha: The police today detained six persons in connection with the murder of an employee of a roadside bar located near Khordha bypass. Based on the footage of CCTVs installed at the bar and details of the vehicle used by the attackers, police detained the six persons.

As per reports, some youths went to the bar near Gadakhordha Chhak in Khordha town at around 5 pm yesterday to purchase liquor. They parked their car in front of the bar and went inside the bar. Seeing the vehicle being parked in front of the bar, one of the employees of the liquor counter, Amiya Barik asked the youths not to park their car there.

Arguments and scuffle ensued between the youths and Amiya over the car parking. Later the youths went back in their car. However, one hour later the same youths reached the bar again and chased Amiya and another bar employee who were sitting outside.

The two bar employees tried to escape from the spot. But the youths caught Amiya and stabbed him with a knife for several times.

In the meantime, other staff of the bar and a dhaba located nearby ran to the spot. Sensing trouble for them, the attacker fled the spot in the car leaving behind Amiya in a critical condition.

Amiya was rushed to the Khordha District Headquarters Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Also, police seized a BMW vehicle used by the attackers from a forest in Ranapur in Nayagarh district.
