Odisha sizzles as 13 places record day temperature above 40 degrees Celsius

Bhubaneswar: Residents of most parts of Odisha today had a harrowing time as temperature in 13 places in the State crossed 40 degrees Celsius. Titlagarh of Balangir district was the hottest place in the State with maximum temperature at 45.5 degrees Celsius.

Titlagarh was followed by Bhawanipatna recording day temperatures 44.2 degrees Celsius, Talcher at 43.2 degrees Celsius and Balangir 43.5 degrees Celsius.

Malkangiri recorded 43 degrees Celsius where the day temperature at Sambalpur was 42.6 degrees Celsius. Boudh recorded 42.5 degrees Celsius whereas Hirakud, Sonepur and Jharsuguda recorded 42.2 degrees each.

Paralakhemundi and Phulbani registered 42 and 41.4 degrees Celsius, respectively. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded maximum temperature at 35.4 degrees Celsius each.

The Regional Meteorological Centre forecast day temperature in Angul, Balangir, Kalahandi, Sonepur and Boudh districts to rise further in next four days.

The centre also issued yellow warning for the five districts in the State.
