Odisha sizzles as heat wave continues for third day

As many as 14 towns in Odisha sizzled with temperatures recording above 40 degree Celsius today for the third consecutive day.

The regional office of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that heat wave condition is likely to continue during the next 48 hours over some parts of the coastal region in the state.

“Heat wave condition may prevail over some parts of coastal Odisha during the next 48 hours. The mercury may relent after April 13,” said the IMD bulletin.

While Sonepur recorded 40 degree Celsius in the western region recording the maximum temperature of 43.2 degree Celsius in the state today, Bhubaneswar recorded 41.4 degree Celsius, a little drop against yesterday’s 43.2 degree Celsius.

Bhawanipatna (42.7), Malkangiri (42.4), Titlagarh (42.3), Angul (42.1), Bolangir (42), Hirakud and Talcher (41.6 each), Chandbali (41.2), Jharsuguda (41.1), Sambalpur (41.5) and Dhenkanal (41.2) are the places which recorded temperatures above 40 degree Celsius.
