Odisha Skill Development Authority head Subroto Bagchi resigns

Bhubaneswar: Mindtree co-founder Subroto Bagchi quit his role in Odisha government to protect the IT company from a hostile takeover.

The business leader on Sunday resigned as the Chairman of Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) citing he will return to Bengaluru to save Mindtree.

The difficult time of Mindtree forced Bagchi to step down from OSDA and he decided to be with his set up during such a crucial period.

He made it clear about his decision on his Twitter handle stating,

“Mindtree has not been designed as an “asset” to be bought & sold. It is a national resource. It has a unique culture that humanizes the idea of business. It sets the standards of corporate governance. I need to be there in its time of difficulty. Hence the hard decision to return,” Bagchi posted on Twitter yesterday.

Notably, Bagchi had taken the charge as the OSDA Chairman on May 1, 2016. He is credited with proper implementation of the skill development programmes in the State during his tenure.
