Odisha: SRC alerts collectors over crop loss due to unseasonal rain

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena today wrote to collectors of all districts alerting them to take measures for avoiding crop loss in view of the unseasonal rain in the state.

The SRC has asked collectors to advise farmers to shift harvested paddy to safe places and keep it properly stacked under suitable cover so as to avoid any loss/damage due to rain.

“Necessary measures should also be taken to protect paddy in mandies, if any, against rain,” the SRC wrote in the letter.

“Shelters/school buildings may be kept open at night for homeless/needy people for rest to protect them from the cold conditions,” he added.
