Odisha: Srimandir servitors to be penalized for delay in rituals

Puri: Taking cognizance of frequent delay in conduct of rituals at Srimandir here, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) today instructed presidents of all Sevayat Nijogs at the temple to ensure discipline and punctuality at the centuries-old shrine.

In a letter, the SJTA asked the Sevayat Nijog presidents to maintain discipline and punctuality while performing rituals at Srimandir; or else, disciplinary action would be taken against errant servitors.

As per the letter, the SJTA will hold back payment of Palia servitors in case of delay in conduct of any ritual of the deities at the temple.

“While one-fourth of the payment would be slashed if a ritual is delayed for 15 minutes, half would be deducted for 30 minutes delay and full payment will be withheld for an hour delay in conduct of rituals at the temple,” said a temple official.
