Odisha: STF nabs two associates of drug peddler Sk Raja

Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch has arrested two associates of notorious drug peddler Sk Raja of Balasore and seized three two-wheelers, mobiles and some incriminating documents from their possession.

The arrested persons, Babu alias Basanta Behera and Nil alias Niladri Das were forwarded to the court of District & Sessions Judge, Khordha today. The sleuths raided a place in Balasore town yesterday and arrested the two youths for their alleged involvement in drug peddling.

Earlier on July 15, 2019 some drug peddlers while transporting brown sugar from Balasore to Khordha were intercepted by STF following seizure of 130 gms of brown sugar along with a car and arrest of three persons. During the investigation nexus of inter-state brown sugar dealer namely Sk Raja was established.

The STF arrested Sk Raja on September 15, 2019 and seized one fire arm loaded with one live ammunition and some incriminating documents were seized.

During financial investigation properties of Sk Raja worth of Rs 1.68 Crore earned out of contraband brown sugar business was seized/ freezed.

Investigation is underway to nab other drug peddlers having inter- state or international links, said a release issued by STF.
