“There should be no political consideration while allocating funds to the states under the federal structure,’ Patnaik said while addressing the 17th Foundation Day of the BJD in the state capital.

He said since BJD is committed to protect interests of the state, it would continue its fight against the central negligence. “Our objective is service, struggle, good governance and dignity,” he said.

Alleging that attempts are being made by the two national parties – Congress and BJP – to defame the BJD through various means, he said they indulge in such activities after facing repeated defeats in elections.

Patnaik expressed confidence that the opposition plans would not succeed as BJD has the trust and confidence of more than four crore people of Odisha.

“Our success is a cause of concern for these national parties and that is why they have launched a vilification campaign against the BJD. These parties have never been with the people of the state and would never fight for the interest of the state,” he added.

The BJD supremo said his party had earned the trust of the people during the last 17 years becasue it had worked titelessly for the betterment of the state.

Stating that Odisha’s plan size had increased manifold and the state’s growth rate in the last 17 years had remained above the national average, Patnaik said the state government had adopted BJD’s election manifesto in the first cabinet meeting to fulfill the promises it had made to the people.

The state has witnessed remarkable economic growth and industrial development during the BJD rule, the Chief Minister said the state had got international recognition for its efficient handling of cyclone Phailin in 2013.
