Odisha: Stray dog bites kid in front of Puri Jagannath temple

Bhubaneswar: A two-year-old kid was reportedly bitten by a stray dog in front of the Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri town today.

The incident took place while the child was playing on the Grand Road in front of the 12th century shrine in the afternoon.

The child was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. However, her condition is stated to be critical. The child reportedly sustained injuries on her face, sources said.

In another incident, a minor girl sustained burn injuries while offering Diya (earthen lamp) on the precincts of Jagannath temple.

“The clothes of the girl caught fire while she was lighting an earthen lamp on the temple premises today. She sustained burn injuries in the incident and was rushed to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH),” said a source.
