Odisha student commits suicide after Matric result declaration

Balasore: A student of Basta area in Odisha’s Balasore district allegedly ended his life after knowing that he failed in the annual Matric examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, the results of which were declared today.

The deceased has been identified as Sankarsan Sethi of Pundarungi village under Basta block of the district. He was a student of Gandhiji High School at Mandurukula in Sadar area.

He had appeared for the examination this year and reportedly consumed poison today after realising that he was unsuccessful in passing the exam.

Though family members rushed him to the Basta community health centre after his extreme step, he was declared dead at the hospital.
