Odisha: Sukinda Tehsildar booked for dancing at wedding procession

Jagatsinghpur: The district police have registered a case against Sukinda Tehsildar Bulbul Behera for dancing at a wedding procession at Jagannathpur village under Tirtol block. A video of the incident had earlier gone viral on various social media platforms.

On the basis of a complaint lodged by local sarpanch Silarani Khandual, Tirtol police registered a case under Sections 188, 269, 270 and 34 of the IPC, Section 3 of ED Act, and Section 51 of Disaster Management Act. Further investigation by police was underway.

As per reports, the video was shot on May 21 evening during the marriage of the woman bureaucrat’s brother. Moreover, she was not wearing mask while dancing in the wedding procession. Social distancing norm was thrown to wind at the program.

Worth mentioning, the Odisha Government has prohibited wedding processions in view of the second wave of COVID-19 in the state.
