Odisha: Supari killer among two arrested in minerals trader Nirakar Sahu murder case

Kamakhyanagar: A probe team yesterday night arrested Supari (contract) killer identified as Radhe alias Pana alias Rakesh Nath and his aide identified as Rupa alias Tala alias Deba Braja from Badampahad of Mayurbhanj in connection with the murder of minerals trader Nirakar Sahu, police said today.

According to Dhenkanal SP Gyanaranjan Mohapatra, a team comprising of the district police and special task force (STF) raided a place in Badampahad locality leading to the two arrests. Others involved in the crime will be arrested soon, the SP said while briefing the mediapersons in a presser held here.

The prime accused identified as Dibyadarshan Mahunta was previously arrested on October 26 in connection with the murder of Nirakar Sahu. Dibyadarshan had given Supari to take revenge on Nirakar for the alleged killing of his father, a senior police official expressed.

It is pertinent to mention, Nirakar also happened to be the prime accused in a murder case and he was allegedly shot dead by unidentified miscreants in Kamakhyanagar of Dhenkanal on September 27. Police had recovered his body from near Malabandha canal of Alatuma village under Kamakhyanagar police limits. Apart from bullet injuries on his body, his neck was also severely wounded.

Nirakar was an accused in the murder of Baruan samiti member Deepak Mahunta in 2021.

“My brother was murdered by some close aides of Deepak Mahunta who called him on the pretext of a fire mishap occurring at the site and then killed him,” Nirakar’s brother Sarbeswar had alleged.
