Bhubaneswar: Kedarnath Behera, Jailor-cum-Superintendent of Sub Jail, Rajgangpur, now attached to Biju Patnaik Open Air Ashram, Jamujhari, has been suspended for allegedly attacking a jailor and vandalizing the latter's office.

He has been placed under suspension over charges of 'gross misconduct'.

The accused had reportedly thrashed Jailor Ashok Behera with a stick and ransacked the victim's office at the open air jail.

The headquarters of Kedarnath Behera shall be at Circle Jail, Koraput during the suspension period. He has been directed by the department not to leave the headquarters without obtaining the permission of the competent authority.

"We have received a probe report in connection with the matter. The accused had consumed liquor during the incident. He has been suspended on the basis of the report. After completion of the investigation, necessary action will be taken against him," said Manoj Kumar Chhabra, DG, Prisons.
