Odisha: Survey predicts no Lok Sabha seats for Congress in 2019

Bhubaneswar: On the eve of Independence Day, Congress party in Odisha has got a piece of bad news. An opinion poll today predicted the grand old party will once again fail to win a single seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The opinion poll, results of which were broadcast on Times Now on Tuesday evening, claimed that the BJP will be able to increase its seats in Odisha from one in 2014 to 4 in 2019, giving the Saffron party a little hope in a land where ‘Modi magic’ didn’t work last time.

The survey said other parties will win 17 seats in 2019, down from 20 in 2014.

The seat projections for Odisha, regarded as a bellwether state, show that BJP will win 4 seats in 2019, up from the one seat in 2014. On the other hand, Congress will fail to open its account here, much like in 2014. Meanwhile, Others will win 17 seats in 2019, down from 20 in 2014, the Times Now poll said.

The opinion poll has projected that the BJP will win 227 seats in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, down 57 from the 282 it won in 2014. The Congress will be able to better its previous record by winning 78 Lok Sabha seats in 2019 against its all-time low of 44 in 2014 elections.

The survey has been conducted by a political research and communication agency called War Room strategies and Utopia consulting. The survey has been conducted over the last three weeks and covers 12,879 respondents across 156 parliamentary constituencies, located in 25 states.
