Puri, Dec 13:
Puri District Collector Aravind Agrawal has suspended eight Junior Engineers (JEs) on grounds of unsatisfactory work in the implementation of various rural housing schemes in eight blocks of the district.
“JEs were appointed as nodal officers for implementation of rural housing schemes-Indira Awas Yojana and Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana in the district. In our district, we have failed to achieve our targets since beneficiaries have built much larger houses than what was approved. It was the primary duty of the JEs to see to it that houses were constructed in conformity with that which was approved by the government within the estimated amount. It was found during a review meeting that nodal officers/JEs had failed in their duties and hence disciplinary action was taken against them by the appropriate authority (District Collector),” informed Srikant Tarai, Additional Project Director, Puri.
Work in the implementation of Indira Awas Yojana and Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana in eight out of eleven blocks in the district has been unsatisfactory said official sources.
Puri district has ranked 28th in the implementation of rural housing schemes in the state, the sources added.
