Odisha has set a target to invest Rs 30,000 crore for development of urban areas in the next five-seven years, informed Urban Development Minister Puspendra Singhdeo while participating in a seminar on Smart City at the Make in Odisha conclave here today.

“We are targeting an investment of Rs 7,108 crore in the next five years for Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. This amount is targeted to be spent under the National Smart City Scheme,” he said.

“In Bhubaneswar, 50 projects will be undertaken at an investment of Rs 4,537 crore. Out of it, Rs 2,725 crore will be invested through PPP mode. The money will be invested in different projects including traffic, parking, bus services and common payment car facilities,” the Urban Development Minister said.

“Rs 2,571 will be invested in Rourkela. The amount will be utilized in water management, environment, and conservation, market up gradation etc sectors,” he added.
