Odisha teacher in Vigilance net: Properties worth over Rs 5.5 cr unearthed

Nabarangpur: Properties worth over Rs 5.5 crore were unearthed during searches conducted by the officials of Odisha Vigilance in connection with allegation of amassing assets disproportionate to known sources of income against Subrat Kumar Choudhury, Assistant Teacher, Mundagada Project Upper Primary School under Kosagumuda Block of Nabarangpur district yesterday.

Choudhury was found in possession of assets worth Rs 5,58,28,157, including one four-storied building, four numbers of double-storied buildings at Nabarangpur, 23 numbers of plots at Nabarangpur and nearby areas, one Maruti Suzuki Ritz car, deposits in different banks, investment in insurance policies, gold ornaments weighing 500 grams, cash and costly household articles.

He was working in the school from 2005 and had taken voluntary retirement in June, this year.
