Odisha teacher rapes college girl, makes photos viral on social media

Balangir: A school teacher allegedly raped a college girl in Muribahal area of Odisha’s Balangir district and made the photos of the incident viral on social media.

As per a complaint lodged by the family members of the victim with Muribahal police, the girl was on February 6 waiting for a bus to reach college, during which accused Gano Selama, teacher at Chhitakelajora Primary School, offered her lift to drop her at the college.

However, he took the girl to a forest where he allegedly raped her and took photos of the act. The teacher also threatened her not to disclose the incident.

The matter came to fore after the accused posted the photos on social media and those went viral. Police have registered a case on the basis of a complaint filed by the girl’s family members.

The accused went absconding and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend him, police sources said. The girl was sent for medical examination.
