Odisha: Teacher suspended for taking classes while being drunk

Phiringia: An upper primary school teacher in Kandhamal district was suspended today for allegedly taking classes in inebriated condition. As per reports, Sesadeba Behera, an Assistant teacher of Nedipadar Upper Primary School in Phiringia block took classes few days back after consuming alcohol.

Finding the teacher in inebriated condition students were frightened. In the meantime, parent of one of the students visited the school after his child informed him about the drunk teacher. The student’s parent then shot a video of the teacher while taking classes in inebriated condition and sent it to the Kandhamal Collector Brunda D and the District Education Officer Bikash Chandra Pradhan.

After receiving the video, the Collector immediately directed the DEO to inquire the matter and take appropriate action. Accordingly, Phiringia Block Education Officer Binod BIhari Digal visited the school and found the allegations to be true.

Based on the inquiry report, the district administration today placed Sesadeba on suspension.
