Odisha: Teen, who had consumed poison after brother’s death, dies

Balangir: A teen, who had consumed poison yesterday after death of his elder brother, died while undergoing treatment here in the district.

Tragedy struck the family as father Aswini Putel, who had cremated his elder son’s body yesterday, will have to perform the last rites of another son at crematorium today.

The incident was reported from Kumbharkhun village under Belpara police limits here in Balangir district.

According to reports, Dipak Putel, the elder son of Aswini Putel of the village, died while fishing at Chheliamal Dam on Wednesday. Unable to bear sudden death of his brother, Biswajit, Aswini’s youngest son, consumed poison to end his life.

The teen was rushed to Patnagarh Sub-Divisional Hospital in a critical condition. Although, his health condition had improved slowly, he succumbed in wee hours today. The body will be handed over family after post-mortem today.

Sources said that Aswini Putel had two sons. After loss of two young children, the family has been completely shattered.
