Odisha teenager falls to death from mountain while attending online class

Rayagada: Attending online class atop a mountain for better network connectivity proved fatal for a Class 8 student in Odisha’s Rayagada district. Reportedly, the 13-year-old slipped and fell off the mountain while attending online class last evening.

The deceased, Andriya Jagaranga of Kandha Pandraguda village in the district, was student of Cuttack Missionary School. He had gone back to his village after physical classes were suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic. However, he used to climb atop a mountain a few furlongs away in the locality to attend online classes regularly.

On the fateful day, he sat on a stone on the mountain for better network and attended online classes. At around 5 pm, the stone slipped from the mountain all of a sudden, following which the minor lost control and fell down.

On receiving information, a firefighting team reached the spot and rushed critically-injured Andriya to Padmapur Community Health Centre (CHC). After primary treatment, doctors referred him to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.

However, he succumbed to his injuries even before being shifted to MKCG hospital.
