Odisha: Ten held for assaulting woman, youth over illicit affair suspicion

Paradip: Suspecting a married woman and a youth of having an illicit affair and assaulting the two in Odisha’s Paradip town proved costly for ten persons as they were arrested.

According to police sources, the youth had visited the house of the woman at New Jagannath Colony under Paradip Model police limits on Wednesday night when her husband was absent. Suspecting them of having an extramarital affair, some residents of the locality locked the duo inside the house.

Later, they dragged the two out of the house and assaulted them besides tonsuring the victims.

However, the youth claimed that he had come to the woman’s house for repaying borrowed money. Acting on a complaint lodged by the woman, police arrested ten locals, including seven women, who were allegedly involved in assaulting the two.
