Odisha govt to award schools for cleanliness

Bhubaneswar: With an aim to promote cleanliness (Swachhata) among school students and teachers, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Das today announced the launch of ‘Odisha Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar’ and unveiled an app for registration of the educational institutions.

Interested government and aided schools can register themselves through the app for the swachhata award till October 14, 2019, said the minister, adding that scrutiny of applications will be done from October 15 till October 31. The State government will award the schools from November 1 to 10.

“Rs 2,000 will be given as the award to schools at block level, Rs 5,000 at district level and Rs 10,000 at the State level,” the minister added.

A total of 1,256 schools will get the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar at block level, 240 schools at district level and 40 educational institutions at the State level.

Apart from the award, schools will get 1-5 star ratings. The schools having 90-100% cleanliness will get five star rating whereas schools with 75-89% cleanliness will be given four star.
