Odisha to raise coal royalty revision among other issues at EZC meeting

Bhubaneswar: Odisha will raise issues like revision of coal royalty and lack of mobile connectivity and banking services in rural areas at the Eastern Zonal Council (EZC) meeting to be held here tomorrow.

The meeting to be held at Lok Seva Bhawan will be chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Besides CM Naveen, State parliamentary affairs minister Bikram Keshari Arukha and Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra will represent the state.

The meeting will have in attendance  representatives from member states- Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal. Chief Ministers of rest three states Nitish Kumar (Bihar), Mamata Banerjee (West Bengal) and Hemant Soren (Jharkhand) will also participate. Mamata Banerjee is already in the state capital since last two days. She will meet the Home Minister tomorrow for the first time after enactment of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

The 24th EZC meeting will have discussion on various issues, including inter-state water issue, adoption of postage stamp method for unified power tariff, naxalism, power transmission lines, operation of mines, coal royalty, banking and telecom facilities in rural areas, rail projects and timely release of central grants.
