Odisha to develop disaster resilient power infra soon

Bhubaneswar: In view of the massive damage to electrical infrastructure during natural calamities, Odisha Government will soon develop disaster resilient infrastructure in power sector in coastal districts of the state.

Chairing a meeting held here, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy reviewed the project today.

In the first phase, the infrastructures will be developed in Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore at a project cost of Rs 11,000 crore. In the second phase, the project will be carried out in districts like Puri, Cuttack, Khordha, Ganjam and Gajapati districts at a cost of Rs 8,000  crore.

The Chief Secretary today directed the department concerned and power distribution companies to carry out the work on a war-footing basis.

He directed them to set up  a ‘Think Tank’ for proper management of technical, financial and legal aspects of  the project.
