Bhubaneswar, March 4:

With the state witnessing a rise in temperature, the Odisha government on Saturday asked all departments to prepare a heat wave action plan to deal with the situation.

The meteorological department also forecast a much hotter summer this year.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) P.K. Mohapatra asked the departments to prepare the heat wave action plan.

In the first week of March itself, temperatures are two degrees above the normal average this year.

The Bhubaneswar Met department said temperatures would increase further in the coming days across the state.

The IMD regional office informed that flow of heat waves from the south-western direction, especially from Telangana and Rayalaseema, are remaining higher in Odisha.

The day temperature at several places including Angul, Titlagarh and Jharsuguda hovered close to 40 degrees Celsius. (IANS)
