Odisha to provide cashless treatment to on-duty poll officials

Bhubaneswar: Polling officials affected by heat stroke during the upcoming twin polls can avail cashless treatment in private hospitals empanelled under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) of the Odisha government.

The Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department of the state government has recently written to the private hospitals empanelled under the BSKY to provide cashless treatment to polling officials suffering from heat stroke during the 2024 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha.

“In addition to all BSKY package treatments, all persons on election duty shall also be provided cashless treatment in empanelled private hospitals in case of heat stroke during the ensuing simultaneous General Elections, 2024,” said H&FW department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Shalini Pandit in a letter to the private hospitals empanelled under the health scheme.

The polling officials can avail the free treatment by producing their appointment/ engagement order for the election duty, added the letter.

The state government has asked the private hospitals to provide immediate treatment to the affected polling officials.

“The empanelled private hospitals should raise the bill in offline mode as per BSKY package rates to State Health Assurance Society for necessary payment,” said the letter.
