Odisha to recruit 2,000 computer teachers soon

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government will recruit as many as 2,000 computer teachers soon for students in schools, School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash informed the House here today.

Reacting to opposition members over layoff of 4,000 computer teachers in Odisha, the minister termed the incident as ‘unfortunate’.

Clarifying the matter in Assembly today, he said that the computer teachers, who lost their jobs, were not under the government payroll. They were appointed on contractual basis for five years.

However, the government will recruit 2,000 computer teachers in schools soon, he told the House.

His statement came after the Leader of Opposition (LoP) Pradipta Kumar Naik cornered the government over thousands of job cuts of computer teachers during zero hour of the House.

The BJP leader alleged the government of playing with future of students by removing the computer teachers from their service in schools.
