Odisha relaxes sec 144 for 10 hrs in Bhadrak for Ram Navami

Bhadrak: The district administration today relaxed section 144 imposed in municipality and nearby areas in Bhadrak town for 10 hours for auspicious Ram Navami celebrations.

The restriction will be relaxed from 12.00 noon till 10.00 pm to carry out sankirtan and procession on Ram Navami in the town.

The section 144 was imposed by the district administration as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident in the twon ahead of Ram Navami.

Meanwhile, the internet services have been suspended since yesterday not to allow anyone to circulate derogatory posts on social media that would provoke violence.

As many as 50 platoons of security forces have been deployed across the town for smooth conduct of Ram Navami festival today. More than 70 police officials have kept vigil on the processions in the town.

The precautionary measures were taken by the authorities in the wake of last year’s communal riots in Bhadrak town during Ram Navami.

The tension intensified in the town last year following derogatory remarks on Hindu deities posted on social media.
