Odisha to set up 45 POCSO courts soon

Bhubaneswar: In wake of increasing sexual abuse, Odisha government will set up 45 special courts very soon exclusively for women and children in the state, informed Law Minister Pratap Jena.

The new courts will deal with sexual harassment cases under Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the minister said while speaking at 27th Foundation day celebration of State Commission for Women on Tuesday.

Women & Child Development Minister Tukuni Sahoo, who graced the occasion, said that the State Women Commission is working dedicatedly to provide safety and justice to women.

Notably, as many as 72,299 cases have been registered at the State Women Commission, out of which 62,303 cases have been resolved so far.

Meanwhile, the Commission is also registering suo moto cases to ensure justice to victims.
