Bhubaneswar: The state government will soon establish the ‘Directorate for Odisha Parivar’ to provide the necessary support to Pravasi Odias or Odia people living in other parts of the country and abroad.
The Odisha Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved a proposal in this regard.
“The Odisha government has been in touch with the Pravasi Odias in one way or other. But, there was a need for the establishment of a one stop point for providing the required support to the Odia Diaspora. The proposed directorate will strengthen the relation between Non-Resident Odias (NROs) and the state government,” said an official.
Some state governments in India have set up designated bodies to look after the interests and welfare of their non-resident citizens, he added.
