Bhubaneswar, Dec 11:
The Odisha government today decided to stick to the JEE Main route, the all-India examination, for students seeking admission into undergraduate engineering courses in the state.
“I has been decided that students have to appear JEE Main to get admission to undergraduate engineering courses. The decision was taken in the interest of the students. The state government will amend the Orissa Professional Educational Institutions Act for the purpose. A proposal for amendment of the Act will be soon placed before the Cabinet for its approval,” informed Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sanjay Das Burma here today.
Following dispute over whether students from Odisha will appear for the Odisha Joint Entrance Examinations (OJEE) or the JEE Main for getting admission to undergraduate engineering courses, the state government had sought the advice of the Law department and Advocate General. The state government opted for the JEE Main route on their advice.
The state government was under pressure from private engineering colleges to withdraw from the all-India examination (JEE Main) for admission to premier technical colleges and revive the Odisha JEE instead.
