Bhubaneswar: Odisha Tourism's annual flagship camping event Eco Retreat will be held at seven locations from December 1st, 2023. An announcement in this regard was made at the 44th Foundation Day of Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) here on Sunday.

From September 15, tourists will be allowed to book their stays at these seven locations-- Konark, Putsil, Sonapur, Daringbadi, Bhitarkanika, Satkosia, and Hirakud. A total of 220 tents will be erected to provide glamping experience to the tourists.

Speaking at the event, OTDC Chairman Lenin Mohanty said Eco Retreat has now become the face of Odisha Tourism. It has played a pivotal role in promoting sustainable tourism within the state, he said.

Mohanty went on to highlight the broader contributions of the OTDC, emphasizing that the corporation has not only boosted tourism but also made significant contributions to the state's economy. By creating employment opportunities and bolstering local businesses, the OTDC has generated a profit of Rs 5 crore in the last fiscal year. Furthermore, it has been instrumental in preserving the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty that make Odisha such a unique destination, he added.
