Odisha: Tracking Device, Panic Button to be made compulsory for public transport, goods vehicles

Bhubaneswar: Installation of Location Tracking Device and Panic Button will be made compulsory for public transport vehicles and goods carriers in Odisha. However, three wheelers will be exempted from the rules.

The Transport Department of the State Government has issued a notification in this regard.

Such vehicles registered on or after 01.01.2023 shall have to comply with the requirement at the time of registration. The vehicles registered on or before 31.12.2022 shall have to comply with the requirement by 31.03.2023, the notification said.

The detailed guidelines and process for fitment of Vehicle Location Tracking Device and Panic Button will be issued by the Transport Commissioner, the notification added.
