Cuttack: Toll in horrific train accident in Odisha’s Balasore district rose to 293 as one more victim succumbed to injuries under treatment here today.
The deceased person has been identified as Manish Kumar (24), a resident of Jamui in Bihar state.
The victim was admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital on June 3 with critical injuries. He died at around 1.30 pm today while undergoing treatment in central ICU of the hospital, family source said.
With the latest casualty, five victims in Balasore train accident died at the SCB so far. Presently, total 22 victims are undergoing treatment at the state-run hospital, of which five are in ICU and 17 are admitted to different wards.
The disastrous triple train accident near Bahanaga Railway Station in Balasore district claimed hundreds of lives on June 2. At least 288 passengers were killed after Chennai-bound Coromandel Express hit a stationary goods train after entering the loop line and its derailed carriages then collided with the two rear carriages of the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, another passenger train passing in the opposite direction on another track.
