Odisha train accident: World leaders, Bollywood celebs express condolences

Bhubaneswar: Condolence messages poured in from every corner of the globe expressing grief over loss of lives in the horrific train accident in Odisha’s Balasore district.

The social media was flooded with condolences by world leaders and Bollywood celebrities as well as cricketers for the victims of train accident in Odisha.

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent his condolence message to President of India Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the deadly train collision in Odisha.

“We share the grief of those who lost their loved ones in this tragic accident and wish a speedy recovery for those injured,” reads the message conveyed by Russian Embassy in India.

Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov expressed “deepest condolences” to the families of the victims of tragic train derailment involving three trains near Bahanaga Railway Station in Balasore district of Odisha.

Indian-origin British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak expressed his grief over huge loss of lives in the train mishap.

“My thoughts and prayers are with @narendramodi and with all affected by the tragic events in Odisha. My deepest condolences to the family and friends of those killed, and my heartfelt support and admiration to the survivors and those working tirelessly to respond,” he tweeted.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen I expressed her deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the Odisha train accident and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

“The people of India are in our thoughts in this time of sorrow. Europe mourns with you,” she said in a statement.

Turkey extended its condolences to kin of those who lost their lives in the train accident.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida mourned deaths of people who were killed in the tragic train mishap in Odisha.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of the loss of many precious lives and the injuries in the train accident in the State of Odisha. On behalf of the Government of Japan and people, I would like to express our heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives and their bereaved families. I also pray for the speedy recovery of those who were injured,” Kishida told Indian PM Narendra Modi.

Canadian PM Justin Trudeau expressed grief over loss of lives in Odisha’s train mishap.

“The images and reports of the train crash in Odisha, India break my heart. I am sending my deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones, and I’m keeping the injured in my thoughts. At this difficult time, Canadians are standing with the people of India,” Trudeau stated in his official Twitter handle.

Foreign ministers of Australia and Sri Lanka condoled loss of lives in Odisha triple train mishap that claimed over 260 lives and injured 1000 passengers.

“We send our deepest sympathies following the devastating train crash in India’s eastern Odisha state. Our thoughts are also with the many injured and with the emergency personnel working to assist them,” Australia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Penny Wong tweeted.

“Deeply saddened to learn of the tragic train accident in Odisha. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and those injured. I hope for a speedy recovery for all those affected. Sri Lanka stands with India in this time of grief,” tweeted Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Ali Sabry.

Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen offered condolences to families of victims.

“Praying for everyone affected by the train accident in India. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families and hope that rescue operations can save all those in need,” stated Tsai Ing-wen on Twitter handle.

Embassy of Italy in India expressed heartfelt and deepest condolences to people of India and families of the victims of train accident in Odisha.

US State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA) condoled train accident in Odisha’s Balasore.

“Deeply saddened by a tragic train crash in eastern India with reports of many injured or dead. Our deepest sympathies to all those facing the loss of their loved ones,” it stated.

Nepal PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, who is on a four-day visit to India, condoled loss of lives in Odisha’s train accident.

“I’m saddened by the loss of dozens of lives in a train accident in Odisha, India today. I extend deep condolences to Prime Minister Shri @narendramodiJi, Government, and the bereaved families at this hour of grief,” he tweeted.

France President tweeted, “My deepest condolences to President Murmu, Prime Minister Modi and the people of India after the tragic train accident in Odisha. France stands in solidarity with you. My thoughts are with the families of the victims.”

Taking to Twitter Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wrote, “Deeply saddened by the loss of hundreds of lives in a train accident in India. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in this tragedy. Prayers for speedy recovery of the injured.”

Pakistan Foreign Minister tweeted, “Saddened to learn of the high death toll in the tragic train accident in Odisha, India. Our condolences for the families of the victims. Wish speedy recovery to the injured.” #BalasoreTrainAccident
