Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is now probing the Balasore train mishap, today seized the mobile phones some railway staffers, sources said.
The CBI sleuths are trying to collect detailed information on the call records, WhatsApp calls and social media chats of these railway staffers as part of the investigation into the mishap that had claimed the lives and 288 passengers and caused injuries to around 1,000 others, they added.
A 10-member team of the CBI today visited the mishap site near Bahanaga Bazar railway station. Members of a technical as well as forensic team also visited the spot, sources said.
“The CBI team visited the spot for the third time on Wednesday. The members of the team spent around 45 minutes at the site,” said a source.
Sources, meanwhile, claimed that the CBI official will interrogate the loco pilots of Coromandel Express.
Notably, the Railway Board had recommended for a CBI probe into the mishap on June 4.
The CBI took over the investigation from Government Railway Police on June 5 and a team of the central agency visited the mishap site for the first time on the same day.
The CBI team also visited the spot for the second time yesterday, sources said.
