Bhubaneswar: The death toll in Balasore train mishap rose to 291 as another injured passenger died while being treated at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack today.
The deceased has been identified as Sohim Mansoor (33) of Bihar, sources said.
“Mansoor had internal bleeding, which had damaged his kidney. He was admitted to intensive care unit (ICU) of SCB. He was given dialysis facility. However, his condition deteriorated yesterday. He died due to cardiac arrest today,” said a senior official of the premier health institute.
At present, altogether 46 injured passengers are being treated at SCB. Out of them, 13 have been admitted to the ICUs while the condition of three injured passengers is stated to be critical, he added.
Notably, Prakash Ram, a 17-year-old boy from Bihar who had sustained injuries in the June 2 train mishap died at SCB yesterday.
Bijay Paswan, another passenger from Bihar, had succumbed to his injuries while being treated at the health institute on June 14.
It is worth mentioning here that more than 1,200 passengers were injured in the Balasore train mishap in Odisha.
