Cuttack: Toll in Odisha train accident rose to 290 with death of one more victim under treatment here today.

The deceased has been identified as Prakash Ram from Bihar.

According to reports, the victim was undergoing treatment at surgery department of the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. .

Sources said that the victim was brought to the state-run hospital with severe injuries to head and legs. His health condition was critical in a past few days.

However, he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.

This is the second death in a week in the horrific train accident that claimed hundreds of lives on June 2. Two days back, one victim from Bihar had died while undergoing treatment at the SCB Hospital here.

So far 290 people were killed in train mishap involving three trains near Bahanaga Railway Station in Odisha’s Balasore district on June 2 evening. The incident occurred when Chennai-bound Coromandel Express hit a stationary goods train after entering the loop track. Its derailed carriages then collided with the two rear carriages of the Howrah Yesvantpur Express, another passenger train passing in the opposite direction on another track.
