Around 5000 people from various parts of the district congregated at the mini stadium here and took out a protest rally which culminated at Sub Collector’s office.

The representatives presented a memorandum having a nine-point charter of demands including slapping charges under section 302 (murder) of IPC and CBI probe into the killing of five people of Gumudumaha village in the district.

“Our first demand is to arrest those involved in the killings. The SIT probing the Kandhamal incident is pro-government. Hence, we do not believe in the inquiry. The state government should stop this inquiry and recommend a CBI inquiry,” Kui Samaj president Lambodhar Kanhar said.

The participants condemned the Kurtamgarh firing incident and demanded stern action against the security personnel.

“Several members of Gumudumuha Hatyakand Birodhi Sangram Manch have submitted a memorandum addressing Governor. I would forward this through the District Collector,” Baliguda Sub-Collector Suranjan Pradhan said.
