The already crowded television news field in Odisha saw the entry of a player into the arena today with ETV News Network, one of the largest networks of satellite television channels in India, launching its 24x7 Odia News Channel at Bhubaneswar.

The launch of ETV Odia comes days after the launch of Kalinga TV, another 24X7 odia news channel. A few weeks before that, News 7 from the house of Prameya was launched after a prolonged gestation period.

ETV News Odia 24x7 news channel was formally launched by Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik. The launching ceremony was chaired by Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan in the presence of Jagdeesh Chandra, Head, ETV News Network and Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Kumar Patasani. ETV News Odia is the 10th regional news channel of the network in India.

Inaugurating the 24x7 Odia News Channel, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “It’s really good that ETV News Network has again returned to the Odia News Industry when the holy atmosphere of Nabakalebara has filled the whole environment of Odisha. The new ETV News 24x7 Odia channel will certainly play a crucial role for the development of the state as well as for the common mass."

Presiding over the launching ceremony of the Channel, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan lauded the efforts of ETV News Network for respecting the rich classical language Odia by launching the 24x7 Odia News Channel. "The new Odia News channel of ETV will certainly bring the benchmark of quality in television journalism in the region," he said.

Speaking on the occasion Head of ETV News Network Jagdeesh Chandra said, “The ETV Odia News Channel will put its best efforts for the development of Odisha. The channel will be impartial focusing on the larger interest of public.”

Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha MP Prasanna Kumar Patasani wished all success to ETV News Odia channel on the occasion. While presenting the vote of thanks, the Editor of ETV News Odia Nilambar Rath said that his team will work hard to reestablish the household name ETV in coming days.

It may be noted here that as part of Network 18 Group, the largest news network of India, ETV News Network has 10 regional news channels across India. The network already has ETV Urdu, ETV News Bangla, ETV News Kannada, ETV News Gujarati, ETV Bihar Jharkhand, ETV Madhya Pradesh Chatishgarh, ETV Rajasthan, ETV Uttar Pradesh Uttarakhand, ETV Haryana Himachal Pradesh and now ETV News Odia.
