Even though classical status for Odissi music remains a far-fetched dream and popular usage of the music goes back to an era bygone, Odia Twitterati today took to Twitter to trend #Odissiclassicalmusic nationwide to raise awareness about the rich culture and heritage of Odisha.
Orchestrated well in advance by @shrijagannatha, @nidhi_budha and the likes, #Odissiclassicalmusic became one of the top trends this morning. The trend saw well above 4000 tweets by afternoon – which can be interpreted as a clear indicator of the interest of the pop generation in their roots.
Best part of the trend, however, was the vast and well researched information shared through the tweets – which essentially is a rare commodity in Twitter.
