Odisha: Two Constables suspended after accused escape from police custody

Nuapada: Nuapada SP Rahul Jain today suspended two Constables working with the Boden Police on charges of dereliction of duty. Constables Manohar Nag and Peskar Nag were placed under suspension after two middlemen arrested for allegedly trafficking migrant labourers managed to escape on December 17.

A total of 15 migrant labourers including two children from Bhatapani village under Sinapali police limits were rescued while being trafficked to Hyderabad. Acting on a tip-off, the Boden Police raided a house in Dahanapali village on December 15 where the migrant labourers were kept before being taken to Hyderabad.

Based on the information provided by the migrant labourers, the police arrested Baishnab Majhi and Rupa Majhi from Kendulkona village and forwarded them to the court. On the way to the Sinpali court, the two accused managed to escape.

A police official said Rupa has been nabbed but whereabouts of Baishnab is yet to be ascertained.
