Odisha: Two miscreants loot around 60gm gold ornaments from elderly man in Silver City

Cuttack: Two unidentified miscreants looted around 60 grams of gold ornaments from an elderly man by impersonating themselves as policemen in front of a well-known garment showroom on Dolamundai-Bajrakabati road under Badambadi police limits in Cuttack City, today.

The victim Bijaya Kumar Sahu belonging to College Square locality was on his way in the forenoon at around 11.30 am to Badambadi riding a scooter, when he was confronted by the miscreants. They were speaking in Hindi and the tricksters approached Sahu. The duo asked the elderly man to keep the gold ornaments that he was wearing safely in the dicky of his two-wheeler. They even told the man to be cautious saying that snatchers are active in the locality, a senior police official said.

After Sahu took out his gold ornaments and was just about to keep those inside the dicky, in a fraction of a second, the miscreants snatched and decamped with the valuables. “I was wearing a gold chain and a ring weighing around 50 grams and 10 grams, respectively, Sahu expressed.

On being informed, a team of local police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident. Police have been verifying the video footage of CCTVs installed at nearby outlets.
