Odisha: Two persons killed, one injured in bear attack while collecting honey

Rairakhol: As many as two persons were killed and one injured in a bear attack when they had gone to a forest under Rairakhol forest division in Sambalpur district today.

Five persons of Banibandha village under Rairakhol forest division including the two deceased went to the nearby forest to collect honey. In the meantime, they encountered a bear roaming in the forest.

To save themselves two of the five persons climbed a tree whereas rest three villagers fought with the bear.

During the fight, two villagers, identified as Cheru Munda and Krushna Munda died in the bear attack whereas Ashadhu Munda sustained grievous injuries.

The bear was also killed during the fight with the trio.

After getting the information on the bear attack, locals rushed to the spot and rescued the injured. As per latest reports, the injured was admitted to the Rairakhol Sub Divisional Hospital.
