Odisha: Two Sushant Singh fans commit suicide

Cuttack: Unable to bear the news of untimely death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, two fans of the actor allegedly committed suicide in Odisha.

A 14-year-old girl of Jobra area in Cuttack city took the extreme step by hanging herself in the absence of her family members today. The deceased has been identified as Priyanka Priyadarshini (name changed to conceal identity), a Class-IX student of Saraswati Sishu Mandir.

According to the family, the girl was severely upset following the suicide of actor Sushant Singh. However, the police would conduct further investigation into different angles of the incident, said Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police Akhileshvar Singh.

On the other hand, a 55-year-old fan of the actor committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan inside a room of his office in Mahanadivihar area of Cuttack city. The deceased has been identified as Niranjan Rout of Jagatsingpur district.

His colleagues informed police that he was in shock after the demise of the actor. He was also seen crying while talking over Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, they said.

He had slept inside the office room on June 16 night. However, there was no response when his colleagues knocked on the door the next morning. Suspecting foul play, they broke open the door and found him hanging from the fan.
