Odisha: Two youth killed, another critical in group clash during Chaitra Parba

Jeypore: An altercation over a trivial matter between people of two villages led to a tragic end after two youth were killed in a subsequent attack during Chaitra Parba at Sindhipar village under Damanjodi police limits in Koraput district last night.

The deceased have been identified as Debendra Jani and Purna Nayak of Jhadiguda village.

Reportedly, when Chaitra Parba was being observed at Sindhipar village last night, a heated argument ensued between two groups of Sindhipar and neighbouring Jhadiguda.  In a fit of rage, villager of Sindhipar attacked the two youth of  Jhadiguda village killing them on the spot. Besides, another Somnath Dami suffered grievous injuries in the attack. He has been shifted to Visakhapatnam as his condition deteriorated.

On receiving information, a police team led by Damanjodi PS IIC Gourahari Sahu reached the spot and began an inquiry into incident.

While few persons have been detained for interrogation, search is on to nab the main accused, who has absconded following the incident, said police

Meanwhile, two platoons of police force have been deployed in the area to avoid any further flare-up.
