Odisha ULB polls: Reservation list for Councillors released

Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the civic body polls, scheduled to be held after the Panchayat Polls this year, the State Election Commission (SEC), Odisha today released the reservation list for Councillors in all 107 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs)–48 Municipalities, 59 NACs.

All Collectors have submitted delimitation and reservation list of Municipalities and NACs while the state Government has furnished the same of three Municipal Corporations to the SEC, said a notification issued by the Commission.

As per the reservation list, of the total 1756 wards in Municipalities and Notified Area Councils (NACs) in the state, 668 have been declared unreserved while 122 are reserved for SC and 49 for ST candidates. Besides, 171 wards are reserved for SC women  and 133 for ST Women. A total of 613 wards have been reserved for women for the Councillor posts.

Besides, the SEC said the final electoral roll for all the ULBs will be ready by February end. 

“On January 5, the Election Commission of India (ECI) sent a revised Assembly Constituency-wise electoral roll. On the basis of the database, electoral rolls will be revised for the ULB polls. However, there will be no addition of new voters’ names to the electoral roll,” the notification said.

The primary voter list will be published on February 10 while objections and suggestions will be invited from February 11 to 16. Hearings on the objections will take place on February 18.  The final electoral roll will be published on February 24 and submitted to the SEC on February 28, the notification read.
