Odisha: Undertrial prisoner dies in Jharsuguda jail

Jharsuguda: An undertrial prisoner (UTP) of Jharsuguda jail died while undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital (DHH) here today.

The deceased has been identified as Binod Kisan (34) of Mudkadhuda village under Badmal police limits in the district.

Sources said Binod was arrested for allegedly killing his wife and seven-month-old son on June 18, 2014 by setting them on fire. Police had arrested him following a complaint of his father-in-law.

This morning, Binod complained of chest pain during a prayer session and later admitted to the DHH, where doctors declared him dead.

Meanwhile, police have sent the body for post-mortem and begun an investigation into the incident.
